Oaths and Renown
Characters become more powerful by swearing and then fulfilling an Oath. An Oath is a sacred promise to achieve some goal on behalf of others. Some examples include slay the dragon that has been terrorizing the village, rescue the local politician from the bandits that have kidnapped them, or help defend the city walls against the armies of the undead. Whenever your characters fulfill an Oath, they are awarded renown based on how hard the Oath was to fulfill.
Renown can be spent to make your character more powerful:
-
For twenty (20) renown, you can increase one of your Characteristics by +1, to a maximum of five.
-
For twenty (20) renown, you can increase one of your Skills by +1, to a maximum of three.
-
For ten (10) renown, you can increase your Armor Rating by +1, to a maximum of ten.
-
For thirty (30) renown, you can purchase another Arcana Power.
You cannot swear Oaths to yourself or to other player characters.
